Default Programming New PATS Key ???

I just bought my first Ford with the PATS system at the VT state auction last Saturday. It came with only one PATS key. My research shows that this is a Type E system that requires two original PATS keys to program a new one. I am wondering if anyone has a good source for blanks or knows of a 'hack' to perform this function with one key.

TIA,

MisterMike, W1RC

I'm pretty sure that your only choice is to take the car to a Ford dealer to get a second (and I recommend a third) key programed. The dealer will have to use a computer to go into the PCM and program it to learn the new key.

Good luck!

Try a couple of your local locksmiths. We have a guy around here that does all of our programming.

I second the locksmith route. I bought two new blanks on ebay for $25, got them cut at ace hardware for, like, $2... and then went to the locksmith and got them programmed for about $35 I think.
