Default Jumping when accelerating

I'm looking at a 2000 V6 manual to buy, it has 85,xxx miles on it and I had a quick question for someone who might know more than I do.

When I'm accelerating in 2nd and 3rd, it will sometimes jump a little bit. It doesn't feel like a transmission thing, the shifter's solid and it doesn't rattle or try to pop out.

My mechanic said it probably just needs a tune up with new spark plugs and wires, and that it hasn't been driven in 3 weeks so that might be it too.

What do you think? Should I buy it? It's clean on carfax. Thanks!
