Default Headlight assembly 2001 GT

The plastic lens covering the running lights andheadlights has been turning from transparent to translucent due to a grayish substance forming the outside of the plastic lens. I have tried cleaners and compounds on it to no avail.

The question is...how to go about replacing the old with a new lens cover assembly? I cannot find instructions on replacing it in any manuals I can lay my hands on. Would appreciate some insight on this one.

Thanks

The clear lens cover is bonded to the headlight bucket assembly.. it's not really meant to be detached and even if you did, noone sells a replacement clear shield that I'm aware of.

Just replace the entire headlight bucket assembly, like one of these:

I had a 2000 Mustang with the same problem. I bought a set of headlights on e-bay at a reasonable price. Here is a link:

Default just buy a new one

I just ordered a stock replacement on ebay for only 39.99 brand new !!! for the same reason. They sell compound for that but it is only temporary and the car looks like crap anyway.
