Default non- MACH stereo upgrade

I have an '04 GT without the Mach 460/ 1000 package and Im trying to hook up an aftermarket stereo to it. Problem is, everyone i go to keeps giving me the wrong harness. Or they say i have a mach system and i need a special adapter..... anyway has anyone else ran into this problem and how do you get through? Tell me what wiring harness to get if ya know! Thanks.

I have an 04 GT WITHOUT any of the Mach systems as well. I didn't have any problem. I went to Best Buy and told them what I had, that it was not a Mach and the harness worked the first time. I have had two stereos in there that worked - one Pioneer and now I have a JVC. You may also want to try and look on crutchfield.com, they usually can help. I replaced all the speakers and stereo myself, so if you need some help, let me know.

ok---got it taken care of.... some 18 yr old " install tech" (funny, that sounds like a name of importance or at least knowledgeable) told me wrong. I just love it when you know more about a product than one who should know it all. THen to argue with me. But i figured it out and know it sounds good!!
