How do I remove this? (Dashboard thingy)
Ehh. Forgive me. So you know...the plastic shield that protects the guages? How do I remove it to clean it? Whoever had my car before me has ashes behind it.
I see a place for two screws, but there's also that mileage button thing...I don't want to mess it up.
Thank's!

It's a 2002.
I want to get in and clean it, but I have no idea how to do it without removing the whole thing, and then I have the headlight button to contend with...
I'm a girl too, with not many mechanics around LOL...I screw up, and it's gonna suck.

Sorry but you do have to remove the head light ****. If you turn on the head lights i.e. pull the **** out you can use a small flat head or a small - driver to push back on the little pin that holds the **** on. While pushing away from the dash on the pin gently pull on the **** and it will slide right off. Next there are two screws that hold the cover on. There on the top side of the cover between the edge of the dash and the cover you want to clean. Remove them and gently pull the cover off. Now you can see the assembly you need to get at. I think there 10mm screws but remove the ones that hold the instrument cluster in place not the plastic cover. Once you have removed them you can remove the entire instrument cluster by unplugging the two harness wires in the back. Now you can remove all the screws that hold the clear cover to the instrument cluster and clean it.
It’s a easy job to do. It will look like your are tearing your dash apart but your not. Just take your time. Oh on re-installing use a magnetic tip driver to install because the screws will want to fall out.
Welcome to the boards.

While your in there I'd replace the light bulbs for the gauges. I replaced the 2 or 3 that had gone out at one point put everything back together and within a couple of weeks another bulb had gone out. They're pretty cheap and you might as well do it while you've got the gauges pulled anyway.
