Default n00b question

As unbiased as possible, what are some of the preferred tuning and mods available for the 05+ Mustang GT?

For example, when I started modifying my Audi I did chip and suspension first. Then after a year of track days and autocrosses I went to a upgraded turbo kit, FMIC, big brakes, DTS and larger sways. I went the skills before power route.

Is it still too soon to evaluate the needs of the 05? Is it already a good-great set up? As an example, I know the Audi B6 A4 has less needed mods than the B5 A4. So I am assuming the 05 Mustang has a similar evolution to the previous Mustang models.

I plan on tracking this car as well as using it as a daily driver. I have no plans for drag racing as I prefer road courses and autocross. I look forward to having a rear wheel drive car in addition to my quattro A4. Also I am more about "go" than "show".

Sorry for not searching the archives as I wouldn't know where to start as I am unfamiliar with Ford tuning.

Thanks for your input.

Fox body is not an option. The new design and new platform is the reason I even considered a mustang this time around. No offense to anyone but the fox based Mustang(s) do nothing for me. Although the redesigned exterior of the 04 Cobra is much better than the previous one, the interior of all 99-04 Mustangs is terrible and cheap.

The Audi will continue to be a track and DD car.

Thanks for your reply. I will educate myself as to what a 5-link rear is.

Well obviously the '05 isn't going to have A LOT of mods out for it yet, especially none of the hardcore track mods... Wait a year and then check back...

Just as I thought. I've got time to research before I make my decision. Thanks for the link Acer. I'll school myself on the hardware upgrades.

I was kinda interested in seeing what a 05 can do. I was thinking about getting one and retiring the Fox. I looked at them and they, Ford has kinda scared me off. First off im kinda wondering if you would be able to squeeze a 315 under there. The SN95 was a tight fit with some work id hate to see them go backwards as in the 315 not squeezing under the 05 fender

2nd it looks like it forgot to go on a diet. The car in my eyes would look to have a little higher roll center then the sn95.

The one good thing is they have pushed the front tires forward a little ways.
I weould definatly wait to let some other guys be the experiments before I bought one and started dumping money into them. Id hate say it but at the current trend im going a EVO for my next track car but i just cant get rid of the Fox it is way to much fun.
