I am thinking of purchasing this chip from MotorHaven and wanted to know what people thought about this chip? Seems to be a pretty good price.

Aslo I was wondering if I really need to have a custom program put on if my only mods our CAI and Cat-Back Exhaust.

dunno about that chip but if you only mods are cai and catback you're not going to see a whole lot with a chip. You'll get the extra ponies from advancing the timing but your a/f will not be that far off stock so it should be good. It's probably best to wait until you change gears and/or headers before getting a chip or tune I've been told

 

What kind of gears would you suggest for a daily driver?

 

auto/ 3.73
manual/ 3.55

 

i'm putting 4.10's in my daily driver manual, it's all up to what you want

 

Yeah...I was doing some looking on the Forum and I think I am going to go with 3.73's. My car is a daily driver also, but I don't it take to the track. So I am not sure I want sacrifice to go to 4.10's.

I sure wish there was some where to see what the ride difference was between all the options before purchasing. There are a lot of different opinions out there and you just have to hope that by reading all of them you wind up making the right decision.

If you think I should get a different gear ratio please let me know what your thoughts are...or what made you select what you did for your vehicle.

Also, who has the best all around gears. (Speaking of the best mix of quality and price).

 

Ford Racing Performance Parts makes the best gear period. Ask anyone on this site, and you will get the same answers. Get the 3.73 if u do alot of highway driving, or if you plan to supercharge your engine in the future.I got my gears on ebay used. I got mine for $80 and they are absolutely perfect. My mechanic said he cant even tell they have been used. Better than paying 150 plus shipping.

 

I wouldnt get a chip till you are done with your mods. You can get a tuner though. I'm till I finish modding then i will get dyno tuned.

 

I have found out the hard way that you should NEVER buy a chip over the internet or from anyone else but the shop you are going to have the car dynoed at. I bought a chip mail order and ended up making less power with it off than on. Had to buy ANOTHER chip to get my car tuned correctly (which it still isnt, but thats the tuners fault not the chip).
