Default Rocker arm question.

My 5 liter has roller lifters but not rockers. How does one go about putting roller rockers on? Do I have to change push rods? I have also noticed different ratios, what's up with that? Sorry I am new to these 5.0's

Roller rockers are not standard with any 5.0L engine. Theyre usually sold aftermarket by FRPP (ford racing production parts) or crane, etc. Theres a couple of different kinds, theres roller tip and full roller rockers. The roller tip rocker has a standard fulcrum where as the full rollers have bearings and such where the fulcrum would be. 302 HO's use bolt down fulcrum, so unless you want to machine your heads for studs thats what youll need. As for the ratio's, 1.6 is the stock ratio. You can get 1.72's if you want a little bit more lift at the valve.
You should be able to retain the stock pushrods.
-P.
PS: This is assuming you have the factory heads on your car.

Stock heads and I was told the motor was an 89 or 90 (I pulled it from an 89 wagon that had 3000 miles on a rebuild and was T-Boned and the motor stillran great), but have yet to look at the real numbers as far as the actual year.
Zero thanks for that info, good to know!
Another question, is there any benifit or real HP gains going with roller rockers?
Just curious in the event I want to build hot motor for the hot-rod in the future.
Thanks guys.

Roller rockers will make a difference, but mostly in longevity. You may not feel the difference, but it will be there. Roller rockers are generally stronger, as well, so you will be adding a little piece of insurance in your engine. A broken rocker arm can result in an exploded lifter, all of which puts a lot of metal pieces where you don't want 'em.
