why does my battery keep dying?
i just bought an optima red top about a month ago... i have recently been having clutch issues so i havent been driing my car at all. i went out to start the car two days ago and it was completely dead, so i jumped it and it started and i let it run and it seemed fine. wel i tried to sart it today and again its dead. now i think that the reason that the battery died the first time was b/c my negative terminal was missing a screw so the connection wasnt tight, plus i forgot to turn off my radar detector, my cell phones car charger and the fact that my alarm was on all for a week str8 w/ the car not actually being turned on. i have to drive it about 30 miles today to a mustang shop to get my King Cobra put in, do you think that should be enough of a drive to recharge the battery to a good condition, or should i try and return it. thank you
-and does anyone happen to know the return policies on optimas....

take it to Advance or AutoZone, they'll check both your battery and your charging system for free. If it checks out ok then its either a voltage drain (something on) or a bad starter making it hard to start.

yes and yes. i drove my car about 30 miles today to a mustang shop to get my King Cobra clutch put in and when i got there the guy went out and started my car to bring in the bay and it was fine. so im guessing that it just died due to the loose connection and the fact that i had so many things plugged in and never turned my car to let the battery recharge.
