Default 65 transmission problem

I just recently had my motor rebuilt and when I went to drive it the tranny didnt shift like it should. Its a 3 speed automatic with a stage 2 shift kit in it. I had the tranny rebuilt like seriously 5 years ago. But mileage wise probably only like 2000 AT THE MOST!! So wear and tear isnt an issue,I dont think??? Anyway, it shifts hard into 2nd but when I get on the throttle and try to shift it into drive it ACTS like it goes into nuetral (revs really high for a split second) then "slips" into drive. I took the pan off to change the fluid and filter andI noticed aspring and a little brass cup/nipple....piece that fell out....I'm sure this is the reason why it doesnt shift correctly, but do I need a full rebuild??

Thanks, I'm new to the forum so anything is nice

its probably a part from the valve body andits not getting enough pressure to engage the 3rd clutch or band. Take the parts to a tranny shop and they can tell you what they are. It may be a quick fix to the valve body. Just don't keep driving it like that because it will probably burn up the clutches if there is not enough pressure to fully apply them

If you removed the filter the valve and spring will fall out.
The valve goes into the body, then the spring.
It is held in by the filter.
