texasstang, you won't find a Mustang that hasn't been "ragged" once or twice... or more than that. Odds are every mustang you looked at has been floored hudnreds of times. It's a sports coupe, not a family sedan. Just listen to how it runs, and drives. Don't ask the dealer anything, they'll either lie or tell you the truth that ends up being a lie. Either way, just look and see if the engine is in decent condition [If there's any oil gunk on the manifolds or anything as such] Basically, just give it a drive. If you like it, snag it... and if anything happens we're always here to help.

The odds are that if you find stang that has not been heavily modded, it will have been ragged less than one that has been heavliy modded. Check the rims and rubber, make sure she wasnt bounced off of a curb. If the right rear is tire is bald, it has beenrode hardandnot maintained. Like Scott said, check the engine, is it clean, is the wiring hacked up? Check the interior, if it really worn with low miles, you could have a problem. Look at the rear axle, is it leaking? Do the options work? Drive it, if manual, how does the clutch engage? Does the tranny make noise. If auto, does it shift smoothly or has there been a shift kit installed? Do all of the body panels line up, does all the paint match?

When listening to see an engine, it's basic logic. If there's any clicking or sound that DOESN'T sound right, don't get it. It's better to wait then get a busted engine. And like TwotoneVert said, if it's automatic does it shift nice and smooth? You shouldn't even really know it shifted gears. If you can feel it [Drastically] change gears, and it doesn't feel right. Don't get it.

Just remember: don't get something that's beat up, unless you want a project. If you want a car you can rely on and drive daily, just wait for a good one to come.

I'm looking at the 2002 yellow stang with black racing strips that Auto Connections has on it's site.
I need to go look at it before it's sold

That's a pretty good price.

I just paid 12500 for a 2002 GT with 76k miles. Looks like a good one but you really need to drive it and really look it over. Also, open the gas tank and check the paint around the inside lip to see if its been repainted and get a carfax and make sure it has a clean history. The one I got I really looked it over and I had a buddy of mine who is a Ford mechanic check it out because it has been heavily modded, basically everything but f/i. Good luck.
