Default brake feels soft

Recently, i installed new brake pads all around. My friend helped me with the install. After we were done putting on the front 2 brake bads, i noticed the brake pedal feels mushy. It still has the braking power (i think) but the pedal is fairly soft, and also lower. He said he thinks its the "master brake cylinder". anyone have any ideas? thanks.

Did you have to bleed the lines? It is recommended to allow 300 to 500 miles for the new pads to seat. At least that is what EBC recommends.

Mine is the same way, it should feel better when the pads seat.

all four brakes have to be bled individually. if you have to add brake fluid, for drums use dot 3 or 4. for disk brakes use dot 4. the majority of the spongey feel is due to air in the fluid. after proper bleeding and when the brakes seat in, they will be firmer.
