What to buy: 94-95 vs. 96-98 GT/Cobra
Hey guys...I'm a born again MustangForums user. I sold my '99 Cobra w/ProCharger in 2005 and now I'm back looking for another project. I am looking to spend around $5k on the car and do most of the work myself. I eventually want somethingas powerfulas my old '99 Cobra(405rwhp). I assume that, in order to spend $5k, I would need to buy something in the 1994-1998 generation. I don't really want a FOX body and I think 1999 and up will be too expensive. My question is...what are the advantages/limitations of the 94-95 5.0models vs. the 96-98 modular 4.6 models? Are the 5.0seasier/cheaper to work on? Does the 4.6 offer possibilities that the 5.0 doesn't? Also, could I get a GT instead of a Cobra and expect to be able to swap to 4v heads later on, or are there other factors that makea Cobra the way to go if I eventually want to get to the 400rwhp range...such as aluminum block? Also, don't hesitate to throw in some criticism if I'm way off base or my expectations aren't realistic. Thanks!

5.0 would be the best choice. 96-98 4.6s dont respond well to bolt ons, they will require a P.I. swap - which gets expensive. for a cheap car with a huge aftermarket, not mention ease of repair, go with the sn95 5.0.
