Dump exhaust
Does anyone here have dump exhaust on their car? How much does it cost? HP gains, losses, what do I expect. Good or bad decision?

RE: Dump exhaust
dumps wont really make any more power, it will just make it sound better. i dont know how much it would cost cause i made my own. when i cut the exhaust behind the muffler off, i used some of it to make the dumps and welded them back in. the sound rebounds off the ground and under the car making it sound deeper and a little louder

i jus did mine too did it myself and i like it its a very unique sound and i think the clean (no pipes) rear bumper looks excellent. I have mine angled a littel not strate down and not strate to the sides but sum where in the middle

It's 'straight', not strate, Choppa.
By dumps, if you mean cut-outs, especially on your y-pipe choked car, a cut-out would be an excellent decision if you can't afford a full dual exhaust swap. Put it on after your cats if you want gains but still emissions friendly, put it on right before your cats if you want even more performance.
It'll sound farty, but more performance nonetheless...

RE: Dump exhaust
I have dumps or turn downs on my 95 GT. i don't know about horse power gains but it does make it sound a lot deeper. but i had my tips cut off and the turns downs welded on for 22 dollars i think well worth it for the sound i think

RE: Dump exhaust
When i "dumped" my exhaust i bought a set of flowtech afterburners cut out this resonator thing in front of my mufflers and removed my cats then ran straight pipes to the mufflers and cut an angled peice of pipe from the old duals and made turndowns welded those on i dont know about hp gains but my freinds dad said i would gain torque out of it i didnt notice a diffrence but ive heard its hard to notice hp gains from 5-10 hp
