Was at my dealer today, there was a 08 Shelby Cobra (Black with silver stripes) and an 08 GT500 (white--blue stripes). The GT 500 has 500hp with the 5.4 liter. The Cobra had 425 hp from the 4.6. My question is, how do they squeeze an extra 125 hp out of basically the same engine I have in my 07 GT? The only difference I noticed was the Cobra came with a CAI.

 

The ShelbyGT 500 has 500hp at the crank. Then there is a Shelby Mustang Which has 325 at the crank 4.6 With CAI and differant pulley. I believe the dealer misspoke. Or was trying to sell you on a bill of goods that doest exist.

 

I thought the Shelby GT was a FRPP intake, mufflers and tune rated at 325HP. Or am I thinking of the Hertz GT-H rental?

 

He may have misspoke, but the GT500 had a sticker of about $45,000, and the other said "2008 Cobra" and MSRP was about $37,000. Hope it gets more than 300hp

 

Both of those cars are the same, so yes you are correct. The dealer either tried to trick you about the HP, or it is some custom job Shelby GT, or possibly a modified fake Shelby.
