Remove the back seat, put light weight racing seats in the front, replace the stock hatch door with a light weight one with lexan, remove the stereo, etc. Lots of ways to reduce weight.

well these guys have ok idea but not where I would start...
1. put yourself on a diet
2. lighter rims and tires..this is unsprung wt....aluminum driveshaft, aluminum rear brake drums this is like 50-100 lbs
3. a/c 35 lbs 1-2 hp gain
4. lighter battery as in a dry cell 20lbs
5. fiberglass hood 15-20 lbs
6. tubalur a-arms 9-12 lbs
7. remove rear seat 15lbs
8. lighter intake 5-9 lbs
9. remove undercoating 3-6 lbs
10. remove power door lock motor 2-5 lbs
11 find a pair on non=power window door set.. 5-8 lbs
12. remove jack and spare when not needed 35 lbs
13. racing seats? 25 lbs
14. remove the heavy fiberglass bumper reinforce and shocks 15-18 lbs
15 aluminum rad. 1-2 lbs
16. electric fan... 0 lbs but it give hp due to less parisite drag
17 aluminum pulleys mostly the crank pulley 1-2 lbs same as above
18. composite valve cover 2-5 lbs
19. aluminum flywheel..20lbs does hurt low hp torque in street cars
20. fiberglass hatchback..50 bls..strip only
21. hatch carpet 4-6 lbs
notice there is no cut up or anything to take away from looks or comfort...I can think of about 30 more things to do but then looks and comfort will be compremised
