C4 trans identification
I am trying to find out what C4 trans that I picked up in a swap is so I can get the right bellhousing and flexplate to match up to a 302. The id tag has the following codes: PEE V8 F25E (next line) D7OP BA 5. It has the dipstick into the casting and not to the pan. Also on the modulator it has the following numbers: C6AP-7D027-C. On the tailshaft it has: D47P (next line) 7A040 AA. Under that is the oval Ford logo and 13. For the regular Ford decoding it looks like a 77 Fairlane/Torino trans. But another site had trans specific codes and this tag didn't really fit what they were showing. It will end up behind a 302 (85 GT rebuilt motor). I am a little confused as to which flexplate to use as well. One place I saw said to use a 50oz and another had a 28oz (I think) listed. I am assuming that it is important to get the right flexplate or there woudn't be so many specific flexplates. I guess I need the flexplate first to help determine the bellhousing. Once I know the specifics on the trans, and the motor is a 85 GT 302 and then match up the right flexplate, then the bellhousing has to fit all those variables. Any help would be appreciated.
