Default Transmission Issue?

I test drove a 1994 mustang gt yesterday and when i was turning onto the highway I floored it to go from 30 to 55 and when I floored it the engine RPMs jumped up as they should but there was a 1 or 2 second delay between the RPM jump and when I started to accelerate. When it did accelerate it sort of jumped hard but I don't really think that applies. If you know anything about this please help.

adid the rpms go back down when it started to accelerate? if so that just means it needs a new clutch

Coverter is not locked, did it wind up and then go ? I have my converter locked in thiers zero lag time. When I had a predator tuner, I tried all 3 settings(locked, 1/2 and not locked). If you like the car to wind up, the stock converter is set that way from the factory, There is a 1-2 sec lag, but the car is winding up when it shifts and is normal. Anything longer than that might be a transmission problem. The rpm should jump at first and then drop down aliitle ,than gain steadly. Hope this helps.
