i was quoted from a price of $525 to install a set of 3.73 gears, 31 spline limited slip diff, all new bearings, and new 31 spline axles. this is for labor only. you think this is too much or a fair price. the place is very reputable and ive gone there before

That doesn't sound bad. They get 300 in my neck of the woods for a gear install. 525 for replacing gears, bearings, and axles sounds pretty good to me.

ask them if they would charge you ACTUAL time spent, Im no master mechanic and it only takes me and a helper 45 mins for gears (once the car is in the air) and an hour for doing gears / carrier / and axles (15 mins getting the fuggin abs rings on).

Personally I think anything more than 2 - 3 hours labor is taking advantage of you.
