Default Which springs to get...

My tax return will be coming in shortly, and I'm looking to lower the stang. I want to lower it just to make it look better, not really anything too drastic. I really just want to downsize the wheel well space. Anyways, I was looking at Ford Racing springs, because they're cheaper and I'm not needing anything too elaborate.

What is the difference between the different letters on the springs, like B springs and C springs. Also, I read that if I get the C springs (I believe it was those) that I won't need to replace my shocks and all that. I'm kinda trying to stay away from replacing all that stuff unless dire necessary.

Any advice would be awesome-- I'm not familiar with stuff like this.

I am also looking for reasonable springs and the Ford B are the ones I am considering. The B's are progressive and offer a normal ride and are about 1 to 1.25 inch lower. The C's are stiffer and are not progressive, but are slightly cheaper. Also lower about 1 to 1.25 inches. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but for that small amount of lowering we should not have to change shocks etc from what I have read. Anyone know how much a shop would charge to put in a set of springs??

Thanks , Lakeman

Won't needs new shocks and you don't need c/c plates. Although I bought them just in case. I personally like the eibach products. Either way, 1 to 1.5 inch lowering will look great. TO ME any further and you can run into driving/parking issues.

Take care,
Ceyko

Well said. As far as cost, it's about 3-4 hours.

I have the Ford spring kit and love it. The spring are cheap and work great. Make sure you get the progressive kit and not the sport kit. You won't need new shocks but I would advise you get Caster/Camber plates. I thought I wouldn't need them but my front tires have uneven wear[&:] I will be getting the C&C plates when I get new tires.

I highly recommend the H&R sport springs with good ride quality and handling when you want it. Also offers nice lowering range as well.

Peace

How many miles are on your Stang?
The stock shocks aren't the greatest, so if you have some miles on them and then lower the car, even with a smaller drop, you are going to make those shocks wear out even faster. Now you may get a year out of it, but you should really replace them while you are at it.
Your best bet would be to get some Mach 1 Tokicos to go with the springs (the Ford springs or Steedas would work well with them) they are only $180 or so for all 4.

Thanks for the input... I'll definitely take that advice and look into it then. I just got new tires a few months ago and I definitely don't want to wear them out prematurely.

I figure I'll probably get the CC plates. I'll look at Eibach too. I only plan on lowering about an inch or a little more... don't want to have clearance issues.

Specifically the pro-kit. Eibachs site has a little picture thingy that demonstrates the difference between the pro and sportline...pretty accurate.

Good luck
