Default unleaded gas

Just bought a 1965, 260 3 speed convertible, can I use unleaded fuel in the vehicle?

I ran unleaded gas in a '70 Cutlass and had no problems, other than detonation under hard acceleration when using 87 octane. This was a 350 ci engine with 10-1 compression.Valve seat wear never was a problem and shouldn't be for you unless you run the crap out of it all the time.

Unless you're racing/running hard, you'll be fine with unleaded.

Yeah it does fine if it's kept under 3,000rpm and doesn't see extended preiods of use frequently(long commutes, road trips etc). If you plan on spinning the r's and building power and using higher seat pressure, then you'll want hardened seats

the lead in the gas was in there for a reason and that was to protect your valves. go to any automotive store and purchase unleaded gas additive, add that to your unleaded gas and you will be ok.

+1 ...anyone care to remember the reason??? Lubrication. Unless you have hardend valves and valve seat in your, run a lead additive in your unleaded gas or have your heads converted if they aren't already.

I had a 66 and a 68 and always ran unleaded with no problem. Every once in awhile run the higher octane and buy a octane booster. At least thats what I did and never had an issue, ran the heck out of the 68 too..
