Sputtering Problem
hey guys, i have a 2000 GT and have had issues with it sputtering. The check engine light was on and i was told it was a cyl # 8 misfire, so ichanged the plugs and the # 8 coil as well as the fuel filter. But it is still happening, it happens all the time when i am accelerating.
anyone have issues like this, i thought it might be bad gas but i have gone through about 3 tanks since and the car has not been driven too much since it is winter.
any help would be great

what exactly do u mean by sputtering?.. cuz liek my moms car "sputters" i guess and thats do to plugged catalytic converters, amongst many other problems....god that car is f'ed up lol
I had a sim. problem with my 2001 GT, It felt like it was not pulling as hard as it should when you get into the gas, i changed all the plugs and have had no problems with it . I would change all the plugs and see if it still has the problem.
i have already changed the plugs.
sputtering, well, it sounds like crap for one thing and it seems like it is running on about 5 cylinders, kinda sounds like the car has a "stutter"
kinda like ddudududududududududu
all throughout acceleration

LOL... maybe a leaky intake leaking down on the COP's. Just a guess.... But anywhoo. You might not have actually had a number 8 misfire. Alot of time when i check a car out for a misfire. I will hook up the WDS and do a powerbalance test. It tells me for instance that number 4, 6 ,2 are spiking. But you have to watch out for fireing order. Because if the number 4 is misfiring then it will carry on to the next in order, and make you think it misfiring. So just a piece of info. I would have a dealership check it out because they have tools to do powerbalance test with. ALSO have youre coolant system pressure tested. I know some of the 4.6's had problems with coolant leaking on to the coils and making a hesitation. I'll run TSB's for it too.
Found 2 TSB's one talking about the cracked intake. Also found one for reprogramming the PCM due to bad calibration. Low speeds high load. It hesistates. But sets no DTC's.... The solution is to reprogram the pcm.
thanks for your "leg work" on looking up that stuff,
what exactly gets done with the cracked intake tsb ??
this is actually my friends car but he is not "internet" trained. i work at a chrysler/jeep dealer so i am familiar with what you are talking about, tsb's and such.

My 94 does the same thing at low rpms i changed my plugs and when i did i noticed my #8 plug wire was F'd up so this weekend im buying new 9mm plug wires I'll let you know if it helps my car is only doing it around 45-50mph with slow accel.
