Sorry to ask this here but I was wondering if you guys had a suggestion for a chip for a friends 05 silverado SS. He is dumb as whale sh*t when it comes to cars and I was trying to help him out. Any first hand experiance with tuners were you got the result that they claimed would be an awsome help. Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry if this isn't the place.

 

A hand held programmer would be the best thing. Something like a Hypertech, for example. Dyno chart:

Thats on a 06 1500 6.0, not an SS, but you get the idea of what it is capable of. It also allows you to adjust trans shift firmness, among other things.

 

Isn't the superchips a hand held too? The reson I ask is they are all pretty close in the price range but some claim more benifits and more power I was just wondering if anybody had first hand experiance with any of those things. And can a simple tuner like that combined with an intake and exhaust really get 35 hp and 35 lbs/ft?
