Programming 1998 keyless entry remotes
When I bought my second keyless entry remote at the Ford dealership, the service guy tried to program both of the remotes, but he couldnt. I was in a hurry and didnt have time for him to troubleshoot to find out why the remotes wouldnt program.
Since then, I have went through about 5 different methods (I found all of these methods online) of programming my keyless entry remotes, and none of them have worked.
I am trying to avoid going back to the Ford dealership again if I have to.
Could anyone suggest a different way to program the remotes, or why the remotes arent programming?

Did he do the thing where he turned the key on and off 8 times? That only works on the newer ones. I'm not sure the ways you've tried but the way i did mine was you have to pull back the trunk carpet on the drivers side. In there you'll find a lil connector thingy. Bend a paperclip or something metal into a U and stick both ends into the connector. This completes the circuit and the doors should lock or unlock, then hit a button on the remote you want to program and the doors should cycle again, do this to each remote and then remove the U clip.

Yeah, the guy at the ford place turned the key from off to on 6 times with the last turn being in the on position. I have tried that way on my own, and I have tried doing it 8 times as well.
I just looked up under the trunk carpet on the drivers side and I couldnt find that connector that you were talking about.
What year is your mustang?
