I'm from California and Ijust bought a 2002 Mustang GT. I have plans on upgrading it but I just don't know where to start. I also want to keep in mind thatmy car has to passSmog Checks in order to get my tags.This past weekend I threw in some 2 1/2" Flowmaster Super 40s.

My Plan is:

1.) Install an X-pipe or anH-pipe.
2.) Headers if allowed to (Smog Check).
3.) 3.73 gears or would 4.10s be better?
4.) Cold Air Intake (BBK or Steeda ?)
5.) 70 or 75 mm throttle body?
6.) SCT Chip
7.) Supercharger, procharger, or Twin Turbos ?(most likely SChrgr)
8.) Intercooler

Is this a good way to start or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

 

Sounds like you're off to a great start.

I would say finish off the rest of the exhaust system ( since you already started ), gears - 373's if you eventually want to put in a power adder(turbo/super), then stiffen up the chassis and work on suspension before jumping the gun and throwing all of that power at her.

1) Finish exhaust.
2) 3.73 gears if you are going the power adder route.
3) Chassis/suspension- subframes, upper&lower control arms.
4) Sticky tires.
5) Other boltons- CAI, Throttlebody(70mm with 75MAFS) , Chip ect (add them last since they are the worst bang for your buck
6) The big bad power adder.

Knowing californina, are you getting catted mid pipes? Because dont even think about getting O/R ones, you WILL not pass emissions, and I doubt you will with high-flow cats as well.... california is VERY strick, and you wont be able to slip by I dont think...
