Default 2005 Speedometer Problems

Hello all! I am new to the forum so I'm not sure where to post this. I have a 2005 mustang v6 automatic. I am the original owner. It's got about 42,000 miles on it (ya, I drive it alot. ) A few weeks ago, the speedometer started acting up. It first started with the needle still working accurately, but it would be very jerky in movement. Then it would only work sometimes, but still be jerky in movement. Then it started spinning completely around saying that I was doing 120 mph + when I clearly wasn't! Now it just doesn't work at all. Stays at zero at all times. My odometer is still working as well as all other gauges.

My husband is away on business for the next month and was going to take a look at it when he got back, but I got a speeding ticket this morning!!! (51 in a 35. DOH! [:@]) I need to get this fixed asap, but I'd prefer not to have to pay someone if it's something simple.

Any ideas?!

Thanks!

Candice
