Default pully questions

What is this pully? What does it do? Where can i get a new one..or new barrings? I need 2 of them one for my 96 Tbird and one fir my 02 mustang. Do these berrings frequently need to be replaced or did i just happen to get two bad ones?

They havnt blownup or fallen apart yet but both have a wine and a vibration that bugs the crap out of me and makes my cars sount crappy. Surprisingly the tbird pully makes less noise and vibration than the one on the mustang.

That pic is sort of small, but it looks like either an idler pully or the auto tensioner. I'm betting its the tensioner though. It's a spring-loaded pully the keeps tension on the belt to keep it from slipping, falling off, etc... I'm sure you can get them from any auto parts store or online shop and I can't imagine them being that expensive. I'm not sure how long they typically last, but both my Mustang and my truck are still on their original pullies with no problems.

It just idles, it directs the belt where it needs to go (maybe around something)
