Default Broken key

I had one key to my pony which broke in the trunk lock this evening. It is my 96 mustang and of course has the chipped keys. My question is can they make a key from the piece I have left or can they read the chip of the key? I guess my main question is does anyone know how expensive this is going to turn out?

It's around $80-90 to get a new "chipped" key from Ford [:@]
