Default 1982 mustang

I was looking at a 1982 ford mustang gt hatchback. Do these things not have much power? I was going to restore it over the winter. The one I'm looking at has an edelbroc air filter, rochester 750 4 barrel carb, husrt t handel shifter,gt grant racing steering wheel, and a hood scoop, and side pipes. What do you think it puts out for hp? Anything that generally goes wrong with these models?

That is way to much carb for a stock 302, 600 CFM is the perfect size carb for that engine. There is some good info in the link below.

Yea unless the engine has been heavily modified a 750cfm carb is too much carb. The car would run like crap

Also, he said it was a 3 speed. He may have meant to have written 4 though. By side pipes, I mean the exhaust pipes come to the side of the car near the door and the exhaust exits there. Any general hp idea? didnt these year mustangs only have like 160 ponies stock?

If you are looking for a daily driver, go with a 86+. With a 86 or newer you will get fuel injection, around 200+ HP stock, and a 5spd. The fuel injection will be nice esp when it get cold, I am assuming you live in Canada? You will also have a huge aftermarktet to work with.

I have a honda civic, so Im really looking for something to tear apart, and restore. I dont know much about fuel injection, so I would have prefered carburated, but if you think the fuel injected is the way to go I guess I could consider it. It would only be a summer vehicle, and I live in Syracuse NY, so its pretty close to Canada.
Thanks
