If you are looking for a daily driver, go with a 86+. With a 86 or newer you will get fuel injection, around 200+ HP stock, and a 5spd. The fuel injection will be nice esp when it get cold, I am assuming you live in Canada? You will also have a huge aftermarktet to work with.
Yep fuel injection is a better choice. However, I had an '86GT,, it was a great car but I would recommend going with something +'87 because the '86 had a "speed density" fuel injection system not the more popular & moddable "mass air" that later Stangs came with.

Carbs had their day,, fuel injection is gererally better. Both sistems will **** you off when they misbehave, but when they're running right the fuel injection is better
