Clutch cable
well as you may know my clutch has something wrong with it...now i'm thinking it something that has to do with my cable and nothing inside the trans...well when i push the clutch pedal down it goes really easy...this suddenly broke on me...there are two different types of clutch adjuster...manual and automatic from what i have read....i have a 1993 2.3 5 speed...its basic as can be...nothing special...which would i have...could it be that something broke with the adjuster...i know that the cable isn't broke i think...when i push the clutch pedal down you can see inside the engine down near the trans that you can that the cable is moving...so i'm thinking its a problem with the adjustment because it isn't moving very far....can anyone help me with this
ok well before i was driving my car and then all of a sudden when i pushed down on the clutch pedal it suddenly went i think something snapped..it wouldn't disengage my clutch so i could shift...it still drives ..the gears are fine...i can put the car in 1st and start the car and it runs but when i try to push down on the clutch pedal it just goes staright to the floor with no effort and when i try to shift it doesn't come out of gear easy and doesn't go into any other gear..if i shut the car off then yea it goes into the other gears but not like its suppose to...to me it seems like the clutch isn't disengaging ...like mabye the clutch it isn't diengaged....figure how your clutch feels and then figure how it would be if there was no cable attacted to it...its really weird...
I belive I had the same thing happen to me in a fox stang some years ago. Here's what I think happened. There is a metal 'lever' piece that connects your clutch cable to internal clutch housing. I believe that piece broke. As I said, the same thing happened to me in a fox body. There is a small square piece that covers the connection point from the cable to the housing. This comes off easily, and once it is off you can see if the metal 'lever' piece is broken. I'm almost certain that is your problem. The good news is it is a cheap and easy fix. Let me know what you find.
i broke the cable on my 5.0 its realy simple to fix take the cover off the tranny where it goes in remove the old cable go inside the car and on the oppistite side of the cluch peddel is the quadent and pawl remove the cable off there then take out the cable. there is a few bolts that hold the cable. put the new one in attach the transmision side first then release the pawl from the quadent and ratate it backward to attach the new cable, release it and then you are good to go, it takes less than an hour
ok well i can't get my hand any were up inside of the part of the pedal...i'm going to check down by the trans for what birdieman told me about...then if thats whats wrong i wil look at the cable again
