Default Cheap, Powerful, Reliable

I know, I know... Pick two. But which engine has the most advantages?

I was planning on doing a 351 stroked to a 408 swap, but I want an engine that lasts longer than 20,000 miles.

I am hoping for an engine that could last 200,000 miles assuming it wasn't beat too bad.(Would it be better to run N/A or run a supercharger/turbo for this?) Also was hoping to push atleast 450 rwhp and torque. But I also want something that isn't hard to find parts for. Obviously, parts for a 302 are a lot more readily available and cheaper than parts for, say, a 427.

I know I am pushing my luck and this is what everyone wants, but, what engine do you think would be best for my needs? Er... wants?

What are you putting this in? Big cube engines like the FE and 385 series big-blocks will make that kind of power for a very, very long time without stressing. And, they have a lot more room to make more power easily.

well you wouldnt want to stroke and then doa FI, aleast so ive been told, but i am unsure of this on big blocks... I know alot people running n20 on strokers with high as hell compression.. I think it could be a good idea, however those motors always need adjusting and often work, its seems to me that the bearings spin really easily on those motors and also when you push big power the valvetrain needs attention every 6-10k miles. I was consdering what your doing, however for your year i would go with a modded 302 or a 351... they seem to be "less trouble", but then again i just know a little second hand

I don't know if I would need to do any sort of FI if I got a big block. With an H/C/I swap, I think it would be pushing more than enough power for me.

How hard would it be to fit a 427 or 460 in a fox? I know people have put in Caddy 500's, but still... Would there be any clearance issues with anything?

they sell kits to swap a 460 in but in most cases its really not worth it. I would just stroke a 351 with a nice H/C/I set up without FIand you will have a great motor that should last a while. But ihighly doubt getting 200K miles out of anything making that much power
