Hey good people
im new to the mustang cars. I am wanting to get an older mustang to fix up. What the diference between 5.0 & LX & GT? Or could you give me some links that talk about this?
Correct me if im wrong;
LX = v6
GT = v8
5.0 = ?

well first all the v8's back then were 5.0 so 5.0=V8 same thing, for some years they did make a lx 5.0 (which has the V8) I had a 89' LX5.0 it was a great car. The main difference between the LX 5.0 and the GT was the gound effects and some interior upgrades other than comstic and interior the motors and drive train were the same. Also in my case it was cheeper on insurance for me to own the LX 5.0 vs. the GT (I was 18 when I purchsed mine)

5.0 is the body style............J/K.

 

The difference between the 5.0 LX and 5.0 GT was that the GT had a little more agressive cam, better suspension, and then the cosmetic stuff (body kit, interior), a lot of people at the strip prefer the LX because its a little lighter, but if you want lighter, get a notch back. I just like the way the LX looks with draglites on them.

 

ummm there was no lx in 94 right? because im currently looking for a 1994 and i was almost 100% sure there was no lx with a v8 in that year but my dad insists that there is...yet im still holding strong to my opinion that only the gt has a v8 in the 94-98 body style...right?

 

Half-right. The GT & Cobras have V8s in them in the 94-98 models (and obviously in the newer models as well). And no, there is no "LX" in 94, they stopped in 93 - I guess? Someone back me up on that, lol, or correct me.

 

o yea.. well obviously the cobra...that just slipped my mind for sum odd reason

 

[sm=signs006.gif] Not true...the 5.0 LX and 5.0 GT's had the same cam and suspension. The only difference was the weight and the ground effects with the LX being about 300lbs lighter and no ground effects. [sm=trust_me.gif]
