The gears that I bought came off from a Ford Explorer, I do not know for sure if they are Ford racing Gears. But I think I got a good deals, as longs as the gear teeth are in perfect condition which they are.

you'll notice the difference the most with new gears. gears + install + calibration will eat up that $500 burning a hole in your pocket.

I would say get a set of 3.73's. You have the T45 tranny so 3.73's for you is like 4.10's for my Tremac 3650.

i wish i got 4.10s on my car. i'm not blowing another $500 to get them though. i'm getting nitrous or a blower eventually, so 3.73s wasn't that bad of a move i guess. Acer's 4.30s are crazy.

jdaniel, you know if there's a way to calibrate the speedo for 4.30s in a 98?

I dont think there is a speedo gear that corrects it but what I would do if possible... which im not sure if it is or not is to take the needle off and have someone cruise next to you at like 30 mph and place the needle back on but on the 30 mph mark. Like I said... im not positive it will work and if it does then it probably wont go all the way down to 0 mph when you stop. Just a thought.

he got his speedo calibrated for 4.10s and were goin 45 and he's exactly 10mph off. he's just worried about the mileage. oh well. those 4.30s are nuts!
