Default Where to begin

What's up guys?

I've had my car about a week now, and have done a few minor things. My friends is selling his 96' GT, so we took out his Upper Intake Spacer and Short Shift **** and installed them on my Mustang. At that time, we also removed the Air Silencer from the fender well, and removed the screen from the Mass Air Sensor. This afternoon, I bought a K&N filter and 180 Thermostat. I installed the K&N at the shop, and will be installing the 180 Thermostat with my buddy this weekend.

That's where I stand at the moment. I'm trying to decide what to start with next, and what would be the most logical direction to go. I also had a question, was going with a K&N Air Filter the wisest choice? I mean, I see a lot of people with BBK Cold Air Intakes and others. Should I have gone that route instead, or will the K&N Air Filter work with those parts as well? Is the K&N better than the Air Filter that those Cold Air Kits generally include? Am I able to buy just a Cold Air Intake tube so I can use the K&N, or should I return it?

I have several things on my list of things that I am debating at the moment. I want exhaust but I haven't come to a conclusing which kit I want to go with yet. I want the best sounding, and it's hard to find quality audio clips of each exhaust setup. I want something with no raspiness, which nearly every kit I hear does that when it winds back down. Is that unavoidable?

Besides that, which do you think would be the best route to go next? I have been thinking about going with the Underdrive Pulley's next, after I read a bit more about what it is they actually do (anyone care to explain?). Well, I'm sure you guys can come up with quite a few more things for me to think about doing next. I want to avoid going to the shop for a month or two, since I just bought the car. Whatever mods I get next, I just want to be able to get together with my bud and toss them on over weekend. We don't have anything extravegant to install this stuff with, so simple bolt-ons is what I'm looking at.

Thanks for the help guys!

first congrats on the purchase.

I dont know much about CAI, but I hear that the Densecharger kit is the best to go with, and that its >*

Exhaust and gears are pretty much what everyone starts with. For the exhaust it is hard to find good clips, but they are out there, just gotta keep looking. www.mustangexhaust.com is a decent site for clips, you have to register but its free.

Raspiness is FOR SURE unavoidable. I have the Borla Stinger catback with the Mac o/r Prochamber. NO raspiness what so ever, not launching or winding down. I personally love the sound, just the right amount of loudness and tone for me. Here is a decent clip if you wanna take a listen: My setup It really depends on what you want in terms of sound, ***** out loud, not so loud, close to stock etc... 4.10 gears are a board favorite as well. They cost about $150, but the install is expensive, and you said you don't want to go to a shop. A shop is your best option since they are difficult and need to installed very accurately.

Good luck.

Make sure you don't throw away the MAF screen. Some people have hesitation problems when they remove theirs.

As far as where you go next, I would say get some gears. They will give you the most noticable gain for the money, IMO. Some 4.10s would wake that thing up

Heh, I don't think I'll be getting 4.30's. At least not yet anyway. I'll probably go ahead and get 4.10's soon. I really want to get exhaust first I guess, I only wish I knew what to get. The SLP and Borla sound great, but I just don't know. At this poing I'm probably going to go with the SLP Loudmouth setup, and then get gears next.

I'd like to get some things for the interior as well, I really like the look of the Aluminum ring around the shifter, the Mach 1 shift ****, and the Billet aluminum door sills. Oh yeah, might get the Roush Stage 3 front bumper as well. Still thinking about those yet, but I'll get exhaust and gears first.
