Default P0442

CEL came on, scanned it, was a P0442, noticed a distint smell of gas when I stop my car and gets really bad when I open up my gas door, so I'm starting with my gas cap. I'm told they are cheap, although I've looked through the net and CANNOT find one site that sells them for my year (2000).

Has anyone ordered one? I'm just looking for an OEM replacement.

A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
Other small leak in EVAP system
Faulty vent o-ring seal
