Okay, how often should a car/trucks battery be replaced?

I'm picking up a new(er) truck on tuesday and plan to throw in an Optima battery before winter. The Truck is an '05 Tacoma and I'm assuming it has the factory battery. I'm sure it still runs good, but I want to take good care of this truck as it will be the newest thing I've ever owned.

I'm sure a few of you would agree that swapping out the battery would be a good idea, I just need to know how often to do it after that.

i always seem to have to replace mine every couple years.

 

Haven't had to replace the one in my '03 Mustang, yet. Depends on the quality of the battery, really, and how you use it. If the charging system is in good shape and it's a quality battery and you don't drain the battery by playing the radio/lights too much with the engine off, the battery will likely last 6-7 years. An Optima is good for double that, easily.

 

Putting a new battery is no GOOD FOR THE CAR.
You only replace the battery when the cold weather causes
long starts and slow cranks. Your car will never notice
the difference .
