'89 5.0 fuel pump problem

Default '89 5.0 fuel pump problem

Have replaced pump and the relay under drivers seat. have power to reset button in hatch, but no power in connection going to pump. wiring seems ok

Check the 12 volts on the main lead
of the fuel pump relay.

There is a fuse link off the main 12 volts that feeds
directly to the relay.
If you bypass the relay main terminals the new pump
should run.
The computer normally tells the relay to
shut down if the motor is not running.

Was able to to get fuel pump to run. Is this permanent or is there something in the computer to deal with ?
