RE: Short Shifter
Your car is a standard tranny right? Just remove the shifter ****, cut off as much as you want, and figure out a way of reattaching the shifter ****, It's gonna feel like crap but it'll be short

lol i wasn't reaaaally being serious about cutting it. i suppose that would work... but i don't recommend it.
Just learn how to shift fast with the stock shifter and just think how fast you'll be when you do have the money for a short shifter.

umm....are these answers for real ? i hope you are all playing.....seriously i hope you are, cuz i just puked a bit in my mouth and almost thought i hadaccidentally goneto some camaro forum.
you can improve a stock shifter by removing the rubber junk between the handle and base where it bolts together, you need to shim it after you remove the rubber grommet, and the easiest way is to use 2 nuts that the existing bolts will go right through and tighten them up real hard.......then the sloppiness will be totally gone. it will "feel" like a short throw , but not have as firm of a "push" to the neutral area, a good short throw shifter will get you better 3rd's, but for $1.00 in parts you will greatly improve the feel, and function of your stock shifter

It's not the speed, it's the spring inside that shifter that will slow you down. 2nd to 3rd shift is easy to miss with stock shifter. By the time you do get it into the right gear, even the honda with smallest engine and biggest mufler would fly by you.
Things you can do with stock shifter to go faster is practice being calm. You make mistakes when you rush, like when racing someone.
