Swapping a V6 for V8
I have a 2004 all stock V6 40th Annv. stang Auto trans. I would like something faster, especially with it being an automatic. So I basically have two options to think about........charger, or dropping in a V8. I was wondering how hard it would be to drop a V8 in and if it would be cost affective, or should I just go with the charger and put it on the 6 that I have? Looking for some helpful advise. Thanks
i think he is talking about a (super)charger. but yes, it would be much cheaper and easier for you to just put f/i on the 6er you have than to put in a v8. unless you can get a v8 and all the parts to go with it (trans, suspension, rear end, etc..) for next to nothing and can do the install yourself. plus with the supercharged 6 cyl your insurance wont go up. if you are trying for some really big HP numbers then i would just sell your car and get a v8 car to base it off of, but if you are just looking for a decent amount of power gain for the cheapest, then go with f/i.
I'll give you the answer I give everybody:
Swapping the 8 is only worth it if you have a donor car -
Supercharging/Turbocharging will allow GT's to see your tail lights -
Selling the car to buy a GT is more cost effectice (and if your not stuck on mustangs an M6 LS1 is about the same price with more power *tim allen grunt*)
