Default Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware)

I'm not sure how many people are familiar with the state of CT and XXTuning in East Hartford, but when they installed the headers they did a BAD hack job. The bolt flange from the header to the block below the #6 cylinder was cut away or broken for what reason I don't know...the bolts from the headers to the pipes on the right side were bent and all four bolts from the headers to the pipes look like they were put back on with an impact driver, they were stripped and threads broken. What REALLY bothers me is that after my accident and the whole rear end got replaced, the tech at the ford collision center pulled me aside and started lecturing me about doing gear installs and doing them incorrectly on a supcharged car, naturally I gave him a puzzled look and told him I don't have the equipment nor the backround to do a gear swap out. And told him XXTuning did the install. He pulled out the gears that were in there (I had a set of 3.90 motive gears) they were chewed up and nasty looking. I asked him what caused it and he said when he went to pull the gears out that the bolts weren't torqued down at all and just barely hand tight. Now I instantly got furious, and flashed back to a dozen times I was above 80mph and had myself and other people in the car. I'm not a car expert and will never claim to be, but going that fast and having your rear end give out could have been fatal.
I'm still debating on whether to do anything with the information or not, but even after 3 weeks its still really bothering me and I'm wondering what I could do if anything or even if I should.
I'm also wondering if the Spec stage III cluth they installed is going to give me problems and what might be wrong with that????

Wow that sounds like a LOUSY shop! [:@]

How long have they been in business? You should definitely complain to them & get them to replace the gearset (and heads??) if they did a crummy install. Remember, perhaps the shop itself might be OK but you got unlucky by getting a crappy mechanic(?) ..just saying don't instantly accuse a whole garage of being no good, maybe they are maybe they aren't

you're right it may just be that one mechanic, although I've heard that he does awesome work. Or maybe they had someone else do the work that wasn't as skilled I don't know for sure. The shop turns out great Subarus, S2000, and like vehicles from foriegn markets so this really came as a shock and dissapointment.

Have you confronted the owner with this info?
Get something in writing from the Ford garage and present XX Tuning with the facts.

If they are a good shop and want to stay in buisness, just having them look under your car at the "hack job" they did should be enough to persuade them to fix the damage they did.
