Default Question about ball joints

Are the '85 model ball joints replaceable or not? My Haynes manual says they are not, that the entire control arm must be replaced. But the local parts places tell me they stock just the ball joint along. What's going on? Thanks.

Thanks for your quick replies. I've done balljoints on several other cars/trucks, so I'll do these and don't expect a problem. But the manual saying they weren't replaceable threw me. Wanted to check with some of you with experience before I started breaking things. Thanks.

They are replaceable but Ford wants you to replace the entire control arm as an assembly.

Price it out before you decide. It's not too much more work to do the entire arm and you'll have a new bushing too.
