Lowering needs? 03 gt.....
I want to lower my car I have an 03 Gt. I want to get a griggs supension kit for my car. But I dont have the money for all that yet. So I would like to know whats a cheap quality way of lowering my car. I figure I need spings, shocks and struts and a bumpsteer kit. I have also heard I need caster camber plates. What do you guys have and what manufacture did you guys buy and how much did it finally cost. I am planning on installing it myself. So just the cost of parts. Thanks

The entire Griggs kit is a little expensive. What you can do is install a set of H&R springs and struts and shocks like Bilstein ot Koni for know. Later on you can
install other suspension parts like lower control arms, strut tower brace, subframe connectors, bushings, and maybe a panhard bar.
Good Luck,
Matt

Cheapest way to lower it is to go to a junk yard, get some Fox Body 4cyl springs for the fromt and some fox 8 cyl springs for the rear and cut one coil off each one and you will have a nice looking ride. For shocks, I went with Monroe SensaTrac for a '93 fox GT. You can get the same for the front.
You dont need CC plates unless yo go below 1.75" or so they say. Just put the springs and new shocks in, ride on them for a week or two then take it to get aligned.

Why would ever want to cut springs especially stock ones. Cutting them changes the spring rates why would you want to do that.
Just spend the money and get a good set the first time. The cheapest isn't usually the best way of doing things.

Ok, you tell that to a man running 11.4 on a stock clutch, these springs, and a 8 lb boost of vortech power... and tell me what he says.

Rule of thumb is more than 1.5" and you need CC plates.. If your planning on bumpsteer kit, plan on CC plates. Stang Suspension has the 4 way adjustables for $150. Shocks, struts, poly mounts for the springs... Tokico Struts/Shocks... bumpsteer kit, offset bushings, about $800 for everything to be set up right..
whatever you do, don't cut your springs... there is more danger than good.
