Default clutch reccomendation

hey...i have a 1985 mustang gt . its got a healthy cam, longtubes, x pipe to flows then dump, torqer 2 intake mani, holley 600 dbl pumper, trak lock 8.8 , and 3.73's. all i want to kno is what would be a good clutch to get that would support me for later mods. the car when 14.0 with the cluth in it now.... i can feel it slippin alot from the 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th shifts. im not 100% sure of what size flywheel is on there. cuz in some books it says 10' and others 10.5". so whats a good clutch for me to get that would support around 325hp. cuz thats where i eventully want to be. im lookin for one for around $250 bucks

i dont check this site often so you can either leave me a message here or at my email wayfastwhitey45@yahoo.com thanks

spend a couple extra bucks and get a centerforce dual friction... its a good street performer. from what i read it has 90% more holding power than stock.... yeah thats almost double! and i think its about $300 ... i have a centerforce stage2 now and its ok.. i will also be doing a cluitch soon and will go with dual friction.

definetly change ur flywheel when ur in there too. stay away from aluminum. get a billet ford racing or just match up the clutch with a centerforce flywheel. billet is a bit lighter than the stock steel but not too light like the aluminum. good luck. oh one more thing. while ur in there, do the rear main seal!!

hmm....cuz im thinkin about goin with a king cobra and just resurface the flywheel....but im not sure if i have a 10" flywheel or 10.5" one. i think the 85 came with a 10" but i dont think they make a king cobra for that size flywheel. and i dont really have the funds to buy a new one.

im pretty sure i heard king cobras are no good for hard launches. and whats it going to cost to cut the flywheel? $50-$75 i look at it as i do my rotors... never cut, just buy new. i know a flywheel is much more expensive than a rotor but you should really be looking at like $200 for a new flywheel. think about it spend an extra $100 and get rid of that one that may be from 1985!

do not get a king cobra, when i first bought my car they had one in there and it sucked. It held the power just fine but it made the clutch pedal so stiff that i was worried i was going to snap the clutch cable every time i pushed the clutch in. I have a centerforce dual friction in there now and its great, much less pedal effort and has tons of clamping force. You really cant go wrong with either denterforce DF or a spec clutch

tack another one on for centerforce. haha.

so LX5.0 you really like that dual friction right. i read up on it a while ago and im gonna get one when i drop the tranny. its comfortable for the street? does it snap back good tho? i want something that will disengage softly and snap back quick.

Centerforce DF or a spec, yeah. I have the Dual Friction in mine, it holds well and I drive it every day without issue.
