if the box isnt air tight, it will just vent all over your car. if it is, the vent tube should be run outside.
you will also want a 0 gauge ground to anything metal in the trunk or you can run it back to the block.

i think its ok but dont hold me to it. most of the time i drive with my windows down so it wouldnt matter there. to be nhra legal it has to be air tight though. i doubt there are any holes in the hatch for the 3/8" tie down bolts or the vent so youll have to drill them

personally i wouldnt worry about any fumes. its a battery..... as long as you keep corrotion (sp?) off the terminals you should be fine. if your worried get a high quallity batter like optima. if you want, your could put the battery in a plastic bag

If you are using at a NHRA track, the only company that I know of that makes a plastic, NHRA approved box is moroso. Otherwise, you might have to use an aluminum or steel box. As far as what to connect the wires to, I would run 2 sets and solder them into the stock battery cable ends. That way, you will know that you are getting the power where you need it, and where it was originally intended. When you drill the holes for the hold down, be carefull, the gas tank is pretty close to the underside of hatch, especially towards the rear. Good Luck!
