AC / rear Defrost not working

AC / rear Defrost not working
All summer long, AC working fine.
Now its getting colder, so I need to defog my windows (switch to defog selector switch, which normally engages the AC to get rid of fog on inside of windshield) - but for some reason its blowing, but not defoging. Doesnt matter what temp its on, wont defog - need to crack windows.
Then I notice, my rear window defroster isnt working either. The little orange light will light up, but the lines on the window itself wont do anything to clear away the frost.
Anyone have this issue?
I looked at all fuses, they are fine. I unhooked battery for a few minutes to see if the computer would reset or anything - didnt change anything.
thx

RE: AC / rear Defrost not working
the only reason why the ac is switched on when you run defrost is so that the a/c system can evaporate the moisture that is inside the vents, if you were misting water onto your windshield while trying to defrost it wouldnt be very effective, so you might have a bad condensor in your a/c system, or your a/c clutch could be not engaging/disengaging properly, and a few other things in the a/c system also just throwing out a few ideas tho
