i own a 89 lx that ive been playing with for yrs , i took out the 4cyl and put in a 351 with some mild work done to it ,now my problem is its time for it to be rebuilt,so i was wondering if i should just rebuild a 5.0 and ditch the 351 . just cause i want to add some stuff to it later. so what are disadvantage with the 351 or advantages if any what do you guys think . the car has 410 with an aod b&m shift improver,and 2400 stall and 650 carb

 

I would stick with the 351 just for the extra displacement. The disadvantage is probably just that there are less parts for the 351 then there are for the 302. But there are still plenty of parts for 351's. Is it a 351 windsor or cleveland? They are to different engines so you have to make sure you get the correct parts also.

i say the 351 because of the displacement possibilities (427 compared to 347)

 

yeah i thought so the 351 w was a really good engine had it for 3 yrs now so i think ill just pull it and rebuild it[X(]

 

It shouldn't even be a question as to which engine to keep....351 all that way!

 

there's no replacement for displacement! keep the 351 and hop it up some more with heads and a good cam and intake.
