Default carb w/ a computer?

can I get rid of the "computer" at the right kick panel of my '85 carburated mustang. what all does it control?

Some carb's had electronic controls. Simply remove the computer, change the carb and distributor to make it all better.

I think it's an emissions computer.

If you have an 1985 GT that came factory with the HolleyCarb (5 Spd) it wasnt computer controlled. I dont know what other parts might require it. If the car was originally a CFI (Auto) then it was computer controlled.

well i changed the carb., deleted the a/c, deleted the smog stuff, and i'm gonna run an msd 6al, so hopefully i wont need it. ok thanks
