its and 04, it has PI heads. the PI heads and intake manifold were given to ALL GT's from 99-04. same block as the earlier motors, but different heads to give it more power.

you already have PI everyhting, so dont buy a PI intake, especially on the 04 since you already have the aluminum crossover. the typhoon is just an all aluminum aftermarket intake. not worth all the money IMO unless your doing alot of work

so I would assume the 96 GT had the DOHC. Also have seen some comments about 2V or 4V whats the difference. 2 valves vs 4 valves per cylinder?
rule of thumb: from 99-2004 the gt (incl bullitt) came with a 4.6l sohc 2v per cyl, and cobras (and Mach 1s) came with 4.6l dohc 4v per cyl. 2005+ mustangs have 4.6l sohc 3v per cyl.

SOHC's make they're torque quicker but that's about it. DOHC is better all around.
96-98= Non-PI
99-04= PI (generally the mid-'01 to '04's dynoed alittle higher)
05-current= New 3V platform

I would have to say that the SOHC 4.6 is one of the uglies engine ford ever built. I was going to put one of them in my ******. But unless you cover the engine completely it is ugly. That is why I went with the DOHC 4.6. Now I just have to get done with my daughters car so I can get the ****** back in the shop to start putting the twin turbos on it.

rule of thumb is for guestimates, but i guess... when in rome
