Default 89 to 94 2.3L Swap

Guys,
The #2 piston rod on my 89 2.3L engine broke, with part of it exiting through the oil pan! I have a possible donor engine from a 94 Ranger but it has the 2 plug per cylnder head. Can I swap the head, exhaust and intakes from the 89 to the 94 bottom end? I'm thinking that there shouldn't be any issues with piston clearance, etc. Am I missing something????

If I were you I would go to the 4 cylinder forum, those guys know everything there is to know about swapping around the 2.3's. If you don't mind my asking how did you break a rod?

Actually my son managed it. He said he had driven into some fairly deep water the night before coming home in a rainstorm. He got in the next morning and went about two blocks before hearing a "noise" from then engine, followed by the oil light. Seemed fishy to me but the arm of the rod is basically disentegrated. I've never seen it before.
